Where did that word come from ?? |
Spring Hours If April Showers bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring? |
Have you ever wondered where a term came from. Do you realize how much of our vocabulary has a nautical backround. Send in your fun facts, and let's compare notes. |

Spring is here, Get ready
We have begun to prepare the marina and some of the boats for launch. We actually have some launched. If your work order isn’t in yet, please get it to us. We need this for planning purposes.
REMEMBER, in order to launch your boat, we have to have your keys or combination, you must have docklines and fenders on board, and all invoices must be paid, no exceptions!
POLICY CHANGE Harbor North has been in business for nearly 32 years. While we cherish the ongoing relationship we have with every customer, we find it necessary to make a change in the way we handle store charges. Basically there won’t be any. If you would like to charge purchases, you can, but only if we have a credit card on file. In this way we can continue to provide the most value possible.
GO SAILING WEEKEND Go Sailing weekend is May 30th and 31st. We need boats and captains to take folks sailing as well as help at the sign up desk. If you can help out please let us know by giving us a call or stop in the store to sign up. Remember all proceeds benefit United Way.
BURGERS AND BREW Burgers and Brew is Saturday evening May 30th. We have The Island Doctor, aka Scott Allen, keeping us all in the island spirit along with all of the usual activities. We will supply the burgers and the brew, we ask that you bring a side dish or dessert. Please sign up in the store so we have a good count for the number of people.
SUMMER RENDEZVOUS This year we are all rendezvousing, (is that a word?) at JF Walleyes on Middle Bass Island. They have a moon pool, a band, and a whole lot of fun planned. The date is August 8th and 9th. We will be preparing the schedule in the near future, but plan on a really fun weekend.
TAX TIDBIT If you purchased a new boat in 2008, the IRS is allowing a deduction for the sales tax paid. As usual there are various qualifications, but it could be a nice spring gift! Check with your CPA.

If April showers bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring?
Why, Walter and Charlene, of course. |
Word Wise Windfall... Some English landowners were prevented to either fall or sell timber as this was reserved for building ships for the Royal Navy . However, this did not apply to trees which were blown down. Hence, a windfall became a financial blessing.
Happy Spring , Let's get ready to sail
